I don't think this is true. When Indie Game the movie came out there was a fantasy that indies were auteurs who were going to make what they wanted and that would give new ideas to the industry. Then every indie just copies each other and or chases after whatever money is around. Vampire Survivors is big then you get 500 clone games etc. You think indies don't have to answer to suits so they'll be more dynamic but they're all sell outs. You've got game about depression, game for art gallery where you jack off a car and then you've got (latest fad), that's all your indie games.
