im paid to check the work of artists, musicians, programmers, producers, marketing getting their shit right sometimes (contract obligations usually), occasionally the build configurations, and any fuckups in-between departments, in addition to the game itself. i dont play games i contemplate eating a bullet

it was also a year after release of the other platform releases and came with extra contractual obligations that we fucked up on too. we had some exclusive language options for physical only in one region but accidentally shipped it to all regions and storefronts and had to make up for it, which again, another issue i flagged, but contract details werent told to me even though i knew about the details thanks to the ceo. it sold fine to not cause a loss or break even, just enough to get some green but nothing great

>I'm talking about the players
theres 2 ways you can do this, maybe 3
1) have them actually try to QA something for real, not some open beta shit. open beta/closed beta is already done and past submission they just want to make sure its stable in prep for launch usually. have thes epeople play something actually unfinished and write formal bug reports, and have them graded on the bug report itself
2) have companies be more open and show more of the fucked up shit QA does to ensure your game doesnt crash because you talked to an NPC or something. the amount of shit that goes wrong in a game is insane. i once found a bug where killing a certain unit completely breaks your ability to pause and even today i still have no idea how one of those influences the other. that bug is still unfixed to my knowledge. making NDAs more relaxed and showing stuff could be helpful but that opens up way too many legal issues
3) stop giving community managers so much fucking leverage over the game for some reason i have no idea why this happens so much
