Batman is supposed to be above lust, fucking your student is easy, most people think batman should be above that kind of thinking. When theyre on the field fighting crime hes going to think of he as special and above robin because hes fucking her. Its literally like a detective fucking a rookie on the police force except theyre on a case together investigating a murder. Its just weird, it compromises the professionalism of the relationship, and if you think its hot youre going to ignore everything I just said and choose to say its not relevant, to which id point out Bruce Tim is a massive, MASSIVE, coomer and just did this to satiate his own fantasy and add the illussion of depth to the Killing Joke plot IE "Look Barbra totally isnt objectified in the shooting look Batman totally wuves her so that makes it deep and complex actually!"
I dont think theres anything wrong with her being shot by joker but that is how the change is framing it, that she would otherwise be "fridged" but batman likes her more so its deep now. For example if in the 60s Batman Show if Adam West batman was fucking Batgirl that would just make it weird, its out of character for Adam West Batman to fuck his own pupil, he is typically shown to be mentoring and educating Robin as well for example.
