Maybe I'm cynical but more of than not. I've been underwhelmed by the same-sex romance options in games. That is for male characters, I don't typically romance female characters as a female protagonist. Anyway, I just find them lacking when compared to opposite sex options, straight female characters in particular. While I get it games are primarily played by straight men.
It does get tiresome to be at whims of the developer in for whom is available. In rare exceptions do I find m/m romances that I enjoy. With what you described, I like Fenris as well. Although, in his case he's from a game where every romance option is bisexual like in BG3. Not to say I am against that design framework. I just know a lot of people whine about it.

For Mass Effect don't let me rain on your parade but don't expect nearly as much. You only get two options at the end of the trilogy which is quite a shame. Plus neither of which in my eyes caught my interest. What's worse is that there were plenty of male characters that were going to be bisexual at first. Then they were cut midway through development to avoid controversy.
