There are valid criticisms of the quest, as you mentioned, but I thought the way they handled his mental illness was pretty good. He has some good days and some very bad days. His intentions are almost always good and I like how Henry by the end can sense that, even if it can be tedious dealing with his delusions at times. I just love how kind and patient he becomes with Voyta as he learns more about him.

Though whether or not cumans were there at the time, they wouldn't have a distinct style that was seperate from the hungarians. By 1403, they were basically fully integrated into hungary and would've dressed and acted the same as any army - which is to say, they would've done as much raping and pillaging as we see, but they wouldn't have dressed in a 'foreign' style
It's a fine change though, because it adds a lot of visual flair and the gear is still authentic to what they would have, albeit probably at a different time/place (at least in KCD2) and I'm sure some elements of their culture bled through. I don't know how long it took us to figure out that the greeks painted their famous marble statues, and those are much more studied than this 'backwater' (no disrespect to czech anons, i'd love to visit and see it myself, i just mean from a worldwide archeologist view people barely care about individual euro countries outside of italy and greece)

Sure there have been games that featured romance between male characters. But more often than not they are relegated to side characters that bear little relevance to the main plot compared to their straight counterparts. The most you can get in other games is by having a cast consisting of companions who are bisexual like in Baldur's Gate 3. Otherwise you get the shortend of the stick.

Personally? Yes and no. I've watched all the Hansry scenes on youtube etc. and I have no problem acknowledging it's the most developed and fleshed out romance in the second game. Maybe I'm cynical but more of than not. I've been underwhelmed by the same-sex romance options in games. That is for male characters, I don't typically romance female characters as a female protagonist. Anyway, I just find them lacking when compared to opposite sex options, straight female characters in particular. While I get it games are primarily played by straight men.
It does get tiresome to be at whims of the developer in for whom is available. In rare exceptions do I find m/m romances that I enjoy. With what you described, I like Fenris as well. Although, in his case he's from a game where every romance option is bisexual like in BG3. Not to say I am against that design framework. I just know a lot of people whine about it.

For Mass Effect don't let me rain on your parade but don't expect nearly as much. You only get two options at the end of the trilogy which is quite a shame. Plus neither of which in my eyes caught my interest. What's worse is that there were plenty of male characters that were going to be bisexual at first. Gale was just about everything I wanted. He reminds me of Alistair if he were a wizard. Caring, charming, wisecracking. A bit egotisical at times but you can change him for the better. Or you can play into it and eventually become gods. Plus he's quite dedicated and loyal to Tav/Durge once you really hit it together. A shame so many dismiss him early on, giving him a bad rep especially on /v/.

I can safely say as a Hansry enjoyer with insider knowledge that downplaying Theresa mostly comes from shippers who feel threatened by her because she and Hans both have the most chemistry with Henry and have the most in-depth romances, and Theresa has the bonus of her repeatable dates. Definitely, bar none. Sure people complain that he lacks one that is detailed like say Minthara or Halsins. Though as you said it's very personal and I like the idea of how gives you an experience like no other. What sucks for those interested in something more down to earth. I was looking forward to what Halsin would bring to the group. It sucks that his character is pretty much flanderized as this hippy free love kind of guy. I did just the same except I romanced him as Amell, the circle mage. If Alistair were bisexual I don't think it would be beyond my suspension of disbelief. I haven't trudged too deep into it. Though from what little I've noticed the m/m romances tend to fit into the flamboyant and dubious rogue archetype. Or at the very least they tend to be the most popular like Daeran from WOTR or Marazhai from Rogue Trader. I tend to steer clear, I never really gravitated towards them. Same goes for characters like Zevran and Astarion, I feel they are way too played out. Anyhow I hope Warhorse does take their success in what they delivered and expand upon it as well. It'd be such a waste if they didn't. Easier said than done for sure but it would be most welcome to see. I'm not expecting any happy endings like the cottagecore many are wishing for though I am not necessarily opposed. So long as they don't fumble it and get too "fanservice-y".

I remember not liking him as much because of how much of a fraud he was. Though I think it would have been a more compelling character arc to see him becoming the hero he wishes to be. Rather than being your standard do-gooder we see in the final game. The softening of the companions as a whole I definitely took note of compared to early access. At the very beginning just about everyone didn't like you for whatever reason but it made sense in the context of the plot. The playtesters didn't appreciate it however thus leading to massive changes throughout some for better and others for worse.

What sucks was that Shadowheart, Gale, Astarion, Lae'zel, and Wyll were all meant to be more "neutral to evil" aligned companions and we would meet more good aligned later in the campaign. Sure modern D&D did away with alignments but it would've been neat to see what could've been. Since early on characters like Minsc was meant to be recruitable in act 1 as datamining suggests. Plus there were other companions that ended up on the cutting room floor. One example being Helia, the Halfling Werewolf. Likely being scrapped due to rewrites of the current cast being mellowed out and incorporating then side characters like Halsin and Minthara as full fledged companions.

I remember Gale in particular being more so secretive early on. You really had to poke and prod for information concerning his condition. In fact if you refused to help him. He would make a deal with Raphael and his orb would be removed without our help. I wonder what grater ramifications that would've brought? Hell, he would'nt even open up about his prior affair with Mystra until immediately after you slept with him. That's a change I am fine with though.

I dislike this because I feel like this ruins Hans' character development. Following the rules has never gotten him anything. He has spent his life being told what to do, what to be, getting yelled at and demeaned "every time I put my foot wrong" and what does he have to show for it? Nothing at all. Hanush doesn't give a shit about him, Hanush's refusal to hand over his inheritance has made him Bohemia's oldest child and the butt of a joke among his fellow nobles (who would respect a knight who has no legal rights?), his people detest him even though he had done them no wrong, he has no support network, and if he died tomorrow, nobody at home would give a damn aside for Hanush and the Kunstadts going "oh no, my money/status". Henry is the only thing he ever chose for himself and the Devil's Pack is the only place where he has ever gotten at least some modicum of respect. These life and death adventures were the happiest time of his life, as he admits himself.
Cutting all these connections and stuffing him back into the cage of """"duty""""" that isn't even a real duty but another manipulation from Hanush — we know the promise to hand over Hans' estates after the wedding is a lie and he's not gonna do it until the king's court literally forces him to a decade later — feels like a regression of his character and also like pointless cruelty towards one of the few (or maybe the only) genuinely good members of the nobility in the series.

As for Henry, being Hans' side piece is unironically the highest social status he can obtain in that world. He could be the next captain of the Rattay guard and Hans' right hand, which is a position someone of his background would never reach otherwise. He and Hans are also a formidable team and do better together, as multiple characters point out. Whether their affair continues or not, staying together is objectively the best outcome for them.

The thing about Hans is that there isn't much historical information about him to begin with. He's born, his parents die, his not-uncle Hanush is a massive asshole, he's married off at a young age, has one son, fights a legal battle with Hanush until the king himself has to tell Hanush to fuck off and release his inheritance, has some weird dealings with the Hussites, and finally dies young under unclear circumstances. This is basically all we know about him. As long as these few bullet points are preserved, every story about him is historically accurate as long as it doesn't directly contradict what was theoretically possible at that time.

As far as I know, everybody and their dog wants Henry legitimized, knighted and whatnot and the poor guy certainly deserves it. Him being what he is at the end of KCD2 is already historically inaccurate in the sense that it's more than what the rules of their world would normally allow, so muh historical accuracy is applied extremely loosely there as is.

Agreed. Hans' trauma is so overplayed by shippers. He literally conquers his phobia over the course of the game. The most important scene in Hans' character development (in my very humble opinion) is when he's riding with Henry and Brabant after his rescue and they see the aftermath of that little town (forget the name) being looted and burned. Brabant is very cold. In response to the question "what was this town worth" he attempts to provide a literal dollar figure for the town's income. Brabant basically tells him "this is just how war is, trust me" but Hans rejects that notion entirely. He's come to the realization that with his position as a noble he should feel obligated to protect his subjects above all else. In that moment he realizes authority isn't about privilege; it's about responsibility. Sure you can say that's a somewhat naive world view but the important thing is it's a dramatic departure from the spoiled, arrogant, playboy Hans was when we first met him. That's the real growth he experiences.

As much as I'm obsessed with these games and characters I wouldn't hate that. Henry is in a good place at the end of KCD2 no matter how you RP him and who you chose to romance. A lot of really vile, divisive shit is about to go down in medieval Bohemia and while that would be cool to see in game, maybe it's for the best we don't have to see the characters we've grown to love so much divided against each other. My perfect Warhorse project would be Third Crusade with Richard the Lionheart (because his life is honestly crazier than most movies) and I would kill to see their interpretation of the 12th century holy land, but that might be beyond the scope they're capable of if they've already said portraying 15th century Prague is unrealistic. A Viking project would be cool, apparently there have been some rumors to that end. I think a great middle ground, that would be very doable, would be the Norman conquests of 1066. I trust them to knock, whatever they attempt, out of the park at this point. Maybe the scope of what they're willing to attempt has increased given the success of KCD2. There are now 3 studios I trust completely. IOI with the Hitman (and now Bond franchise), Project Aces, and with the release of KCD2, Warhorse.

Here's hoping that will eventually get added in a dlc or update, it would be nice to talk to him about what side quests you've done and tournaments. If I recall, in KCD1 most characters in Rattay had dialogue if you won or lost a tournament.

There's a mod called master merchants that adds a merchant to both maps that has every item in the game available for purchase at Henry tier. Very convenient if you like making different outfits or armor sets and don't feel like running around the game looking for a specific item. Yes, you can just add stuff with console commands, but you can't see what they're going to look like in advance that way. Trough washing deluxe is one of my favorites as well. Washing in a trough is the equivalent of laundry or bathhouse now. Not for everyone, kind of a "cheat" mod, but going to bathhouses and doing laundry becomes tedious after after a while. Compare that to something like smithing or weapon sharpening which I'm always happy to do manually.
