Yeah it isn't like Aulitz is begging for his life and Henry is some rage consumed psycho. They talk it out, Henry still wants him dead, but they reach a mutual understanding. It's honestly a very tragic exchange all around because Von Aulitz is clearly trying to cope with and rationalize his actions because he knows he's dying. Meanwhile Henry, still clearly wracked by his own guilt, finds perhaps the most validation and absolution for his parent's deaths from the man that killed them of all people. It's really sad and poignant from both perspectives. I've seen people criticize the scene here, portraying it as Henry being swayed by Von Aulitz but that isn't really the case. It's two traumatized, guilty people, clinging to the narrative they project on each other. Just great writing. Don't even get me started on the foreshadowing of Martin's "what happens if someone shoots you with a crossbow as soon as you walk out the front door?" line. "War is a nasty business."
