It's the predecessor to the 92F, early 80s production. First version with an American mag release that should use all modern 92 mags. First version with a firing pin block, so it's safe to carry too. Blued finish instead of the Bruniton coating, rounded trigger guard, barrel isn't chrome lined. Not all of the parts are drop-in interchangeable, they didn't standardize everything until the F for the M9 trials, so replacement parts may need fitting. Keep an eye on the locking block for cracks on the "wings" and the narrow corner at the bottom left of the firing pin plunger which was also prone to cracking before they added a relief cut. Replace the recoil spring with a fresh one and buy a replacement locking block if you plan to shoot it a lot. The updated locking blocks are backwards compatible with the SB. Nice gun, enjoy.

>Would be just like the military to fuck things up by cheaping out on magazines.
Someone traded in a 92FS at work and kept the factory mags, gave us surplus Airtronics ones instead. Absolute SHIT quality, won't even lock the slide back on empty.

Just buy an older one off GB. Look for an Accokeek, MD or Italian one from the 90, you'll find plenty and can get them in great shape for less than $500 if you look carefully.
