I have an aunt who worked at IBM way way way back when they started and those nerds were sending each other pin ups made from asci art and printing it out.

I'm pertty sure we know that star trek nerds worked with early computers and early internet. So if they were talking about star trek, someone probably talked about the cat aliens and eventually other related topics.

There is a small but real chance some of the early images of the web was animal people or animal alien people.

Here is an equally interesting question, what about preinternet? Did any of those nerds talking on ham radio talk about this stuff?
