>FLCL Season 2
>had no idea there were additional seasons
Thats because they didn't have any additional seasons until a few years back when Jason DeMarco and everyone else from Toonami/Adult Swim strong-armed them into making additional seasons.
FLCL Progressive and FLCL Alternative.
As far as I recall, Tsurumaki did not want to make a sequel. But Adult Swim kept pushing to buy the rights to it once they became available. They got Production IG involved to make it.
At the time of its airing, I heard very mixed things about it. Part of that was probably out of spite feeling like it did not need a sequel and partially that Americans shouldn't be forcing others to make sequels they don't want to make. It certainly contributed to my feelings toward it. Along with seeming some at the time very "American" values in early episode dialogue. This was right around the time anime was starting to get a lot more popular in the west unfortunately thanks to Demon Slayer but just before the COVID explosion. So this definitely contributed to some of my own sentiment toward the show at least.
As for how the shows actually ended up turning out, well I can't say. I torrented them, and then never watched them, and I haven't seen them really discussed since the year they aired.
