In the media, it is common to see Vikings portrayed as barbarous, ruthless, and fierce warriors infamous for their brutality, looting, raping and human sacrifice.
Obviously the raids were not peaceful but what I mean is I wonder if they were as bad as they have been made out to be like just go into a village steal everything, take slaves, rape women then burn the place down and go home.
