I kinda want to try out a tediore playthrough because I've always avoided the manufacturer, but throwing them at enemies is awkward and it seems like it'd be a gigantic ammo hog if I'm not throwing empty guns at them (which does less dmg than throwing a scathing remark).
My gut says axton would be the character to do it on because of all the gun and grenade dmg bonuses, which the tediore explosions benefit from, but my brain is telling me salvador might be better due to the passive ammo regen during gunzerking.

Any ideas? Also, I keep noticing that no matter how many different types of guns I'm using, whether it be pistols or shotguns or smgs, and the state of their ammo pools notwithstanding, that ammo crates always seem to be stocked with the ammo that I *don't* need, which makes me hesitant to try out a playthrough where all I'll be using are pistols, smgs, and shotguns.

P.S. Generally speaking, how does tediore explosion damage scale per magazine? Is it based on how full the magazine is percentage-wise, or is it based on the number of bullets in said mag? For example, is it like:
>10 bullets to a pistol mag
>shoot one, 9 left, throw
>get 90% (or 100%, or whatever the top value is) of the damage on the explosion
or is it like
>10 bullets to a pistol mag
>100% dmg when thrown
>different pistol has 20 bullets to a mag
>200% dmg when thrown
