I don't know for a fact, but I can attest that writers and creatives tend to be a suicidal lot. At a certain point, releasing something you crafted feels more like letting go of a baby you carried. Some people put on clown makeup to sell themselves, but deep down, they're always wondering if they can do better, and hope inwardly that the audience doesn't see through the cracks.
