Used to happen all the time in reality. Strikebreaking paid the bills at proto-PMC groups like Pinkerton, Baldwin-Felts, and Burns.

(Of course, some of the strike/union leaders had their own nasty side, too. )

And even today, there are some prettt shady business practices. A lot of companies turn a blind eye to safety issues until the body count hits a certain level before "discovering" the problem.
