Yeah I wouldn't bet on that.
Wikipedia mentions it and refers to a source: "Inside the Third Reich", Alpert Speer's memoirs.
That alone makes it very suspect. Speer had an agenda to portray himself as a poor innocent architect that didn't do nothing and just wanted to design buildings. All while being surrounded by the worst wretch of mankind and being enchanted by hitler, the devil himself.
Speer is the very archetype of a untrustworthy source.
