crowdfunding a cathedral made me think, though:
Couldn't there be platform for proposing (voting , then approving) on monuments to build?
There could be monuments built throughout any given country, if people pitched in $10 for it

Even if it would use existing crowdfunding platforms
there should be an initiative with real-world marketing & such to get monuments and such funded to built - like way, way more than what we have now

There'd be a process to brainstorm and pitch the subject matter, a process to have it designed, a process to then vote on it, and then a process to have it funded to be built
