I like it.
It's obvious you wrote it pretty quickly, since a lot of the dialogue and prose is very "expository", but I like the premise of Susie trying to cheat death and ultimately failing. Susie works really well for that kind of "selfish selflessness", making massive decisions about their future without telling him, and just assuming he'd be okay with it. Especially at the end, with "Susie" continuing to lie to him to spare his feelings. Or maybe I'm just interpreting it entirely wrong. Either way, I like it.
It's also nice seeing other interpretations of the old "Meta Knight outliving his loved ones" angle, since you can go in a lot of different directions with it.
