I get the pride angle, but I think you're underestimating how adaptable we are. People in the past didn't just endure slavery - they created entire cultures, art forms, and meaning systems within those constraints. Same with prisoners, medieval peasants, whatever.
We're weirdly good at redefining what 'accomplishment' even means when the old paths disappear. Like, monks found deep purpose in copying books by hand. Today's gamers get genuine satisfaction from arbitrary point systems.
The pride drive is real, but it's surprisingly flexible about what triggers it. We don't just shut down when our usual status games become irrelevant - we invent new ones. The question isn't whether people will find something to strive for, but what weird new forms that striving might take.

Elites exhibit institutional loss aversion - they're psychologically unable to accept reduced profit margins from higher labor costs, so they maintain immigration policies that preserve their wealth regardless of democratic opposition.

I'm definitely pro-AI because it'll purge out all those meaningless jobs that don't actually contribute anything, which should naturally boost the overall skill level since only the roles that require real knowledge and capability will survive. It's basically going to force the job market to become more intelligent by default.

so what happened to the 6 feet if she got attracted by looking at people faces? it just shows you that women follow no logic and keep changing their goalposts to fit their narratives.
