Ccg are the only ones on this board who actually wrench so I'll ask here.
tl;dr Is this contact pattern going to tear my gears up?
I understand it'll probably make some noise, not concerned about a little noise, it's an old beater truck, but I don't want it howling.
2002 Ram 1500, 2wd, 9.25" Chrysler axle. 270k miles. Pinion bearings were shot. Replaced pinion and carrier bearings. Reused the gear set. From my understanding the pinion is too close with this pattern, but can I run it without tearing the gears up? Moderate towing from time to time.
Really don't want to re-shim and crush the pinion again. I reused the old shim but I guess the new bearings were slightly thicker.
