Investing in e-coin is little different than gambling. There is no reason for e-coin to gain value other than how many people buy into it. It's a Ponzi scheme. If you get in early, you win. Maybe now is early, who knows.
E-coin is vulnerable. As quantum computing comes online, the security in blockchains will be rendered near useless. An individual could be attacked and cleaned out, or a user could even lose the code and lose everything through carelessness or accident.
Not to say it doesn't have its uses. It's a good way to transport large sums of money internationally, for one example.
