The only truly complex video game RPG's exist within the isometric CRPG genre. This gets to a point where people give up on it because they are unable to absorb everything on the screen. There's a reason the genre had to be revived by old fans and devs via Kickstarter.

I am a fan of the genre but it's one of those genres that you know is only going to be appealing to limited audience.
