It's called marketing young anon, and victory was not that good at it let alone convincing the bleed heart harley/indian enthusiasts. They tried to sell during the American chopper era of crusier culture and when that bubble popped, nobody cared for that aesthetic anymore. By the time they cleaned up their image with the Vision, Vegas, and Octane it was just too late. Indian had the soul, the roots to grow from. Victory was just too new too quick. If they released their lineup now with zoomers and millenials amuck that would absolutely change. They're a good American brand.

Shorter gears, bigger cams, more lean angle, 4 more hp, slightly different suspension setup. Apparently the Indian only uses 30% of the parts of the octane.
