If the gsxr 1000 finally dies in the US, I'm buying one new in the crate and stashing it away until I'm old.

>>28462944checked
After riding a cruiser for the first time, I was looking at old goldwings and cheap visions. It's such a crazy looking bike, and I think it has an aluminum frame. You can still find them with low miles for relatively inexpensive.
Met a cute twink on a gsxr 750, he said it was too slow
He was cute though
>>28462902i want to live in a hanger
>>28462961I ride motorcycles because I want to get obliterated by a tractor trailer going 80 mph
>>28462944How many Polaris Indians have you had?
>>28462944>>28462949Victory is unironically reliable as fuck and most their bikes use the same engine so part compatability is nuts.
My favorite victory is the Octane, which oddly enough has more lean angle than the scout amongst other improvements.

I don't even care if the Israelis do it.
I feel the jews are on my side over this its so fucking gay.
>>28462980I think the freedom 106 only has like 8 gaskets total. Very interesting engine for sure. Octane was pretty sweet; I think it's engine was hotter than to scout, too.

It's whatever is killing Testosterone in this country.
It's a real problem, its making the fucking cars gay too.
>>28462983because the design language was on the way out, which is why they bought indian to try a new style without alienating their customer base, but then indian sold like hotcakes and theres no reason to cannibalize your own sales when you can consolidate into a single brand under a much more desirable name

>>28463063We've previously proven that bicycles are more dangerous than motorcycles.
>>28463068You know, I don't even hate bicycles.
I enjoy riding my bicycle.
If fact, I think they're better than motorcycles in ways.
You can take them places you cant fit a motorcycle, you can even carry the thing if you hate too.
I cannot for the life of me justify a bicycle costing more than ~$1000.
There's people out there assembling functional motors and transmissions for far less than that.
>>28463058I don't know if it's because I'm growing up or because I've drank enough fluoride to calcify my brain, but I'm starting to like Harleys.
>>28463074I started liking harleys when I realized they serve in America the same purpose 150+cc scooters serve in the rest of the world, minus the storage.
>>28463052it's not T levels, the culture has changed. also the insurance is expensive for a young rider so it's harder to get started. when I got my first bike at 18 back in the 2000s I only managed to get one friend into it. I imagine it's much worse now.
>>28463058>Ask a few days ago for a QRD on wide glides compared to the other dynas>Other anons keep posting them now>Especially ones with the flame job on the tank>Intrusive thoughts keep growing>I do like the spokes. After all why shouldn't a cruiser ride on wire?>Whats happening on the CL I wonderLets see how long before I buy a clapped out FXDWG and bubba the fuck out of it, it will be glorious.
>>28462983It's called marketing young anon, and victory was not that good at it let alone convincing the bleed heart harley/indian enthusiasts. They tried to sell during the American chopper era of crusier culture and when that bubble popped, nobody cared for that aesthetic anymore. By the time they cleaned up their image with the Vision, Vegas, and Octane it was just too late. Indian had the soul, the roots to grow from. Victory was just too new too quick. If they released their lineup now with zoomers and millenials amuck that would absolutely change. They're a good American brand.
>>28463001Shorter gears, bigger cams, more lean angle, 4 more hp, slightly different suspension setup. Apparently the Indian only uses 30% of the parts of the octane.
>The world's longest burn out was held by a octane
>>28463074> I cannot for the life of me justify a bicycle costing more than ~$1000.:shrug emoji:
I can't justify paying $20 for a meal. I don't care about people paying that much and more for what they like.
>>28463075Mine is loud and slow.
Looks nice and has no lean angle either.
The brakes are really bad too.
I really like it, I've had drunk women catcalling me and old guys telling me how nice it looks.
I like to go out to the country side of my state and just cruise through the fields, looking at things.
I'll even take it up to mountains and drag my floorboards around.
The heavy weight makes it feel so planted and stable.
I'd really like a Street Glide or even Road King for touring, but I love how nice the chrome looks.
>>28463087Sounds perfect for my area
>>28463091Everything is old fashioned and kinda shitty, but on purpose.
It's very eclectic bit I kind of enjoy how sketchy it is, and the seat is very comfortable.
The brand new HDs are all very modern now though, they don't have the, "sitty, but in purpose" feel of some of the Twin Cams.
Also, my oil tank is real, on the M8 softails its a fairing.
Stupid little details like that.
>>28463098Really bad autocorrect baby sitting skills on my side there
>>28463098>old fashioned and kinda shittyJust the way I like it. I'm selling the GSXS to fuel the shitbike army.
I'd probably get an old sportster with a kickstart and buy one of those alt to magneto swap things.
>>28463105>I'm selling the GSXS to fuel the shitbike army.wow, hes so humble
>>28463058Harleys are cool too, and I'm probably going to get an FXR or wide glide after I sell one of my bikes lol.
I like Harleys but my dad said he'd disown me if I bought one
>>28463105No, you want a Harley that works bro trust me.
These things are a bitch to work on.
My pipes block the fucking axles so I have to remove the exhaust bracket and shove the pipes down to slip the axle out over all of that chrome...
Dynas are the affordable used bike to modify but they shake hard really badly.
Sportsters, the engine is literally backwards from the rest of the main line bikes.
I'd say get a carbed Evo of some sort but parts are drying up for those too
>>28463116>>28463105Kinda scatter brained but modify a Low Rider, thats the bike all of the dirtbike kids like.
They take a lift and suspension swaps well, there's probably even nobbies out there for them.

For several years now, my dad has been slowly restoring his 64 sportster for me to take over. Last summer we had it repainted in the same blue color he painted it 40 years ago, and even found the same old style decals for the tank.
Right now it is almost put back together, just had a new battery and some other parts. He still hasn't started it yet, but he is very old and his knee is bad so I'm not even sure if he physically can kick the starter hard enough. He hasn't ridden this bike since the 90s; he gave up riding when my older siblings were born.
>>28463127sick

>>28463120So what exactly is the low rider? What makes it different from a sportster?
I dig this one that shows up in a lot of Biltwell promo
>>28463088Your bike is like staring into the abyss, I can't look away and it horrifying.
>>28463139NTA but I think he means sportster engines have the final drive on the right side of the bike, all the other models have it on the right side. The low rider was a dyna, when the dyna line was put out of production they re-introduced it as a softail. Same as the fat bob and maybe some other model I'm forgetting. Both sportsters and dynas have the two rear shocks on the back but dynas have a bigger frame/engine basically. The bike you pictured is a sporty.
I may not wanna stunt, but I do wanna learn this Dhalsim technique
>>28463078I didn't start riding till last year when I turned 25, so my bike insurance was pretty cheap. But when I started driving around 2017 all the way up until 2022-2023ish my insurance was fucking awful. I have never had a ticket or an accident, and It still took years for my car insurance to get below 200 a month. Insurance is fucking expensive for a single dude under 25 now. It's no wonder young guys aren't trying to ride now. There's no way in hell I could have afforded it back then.
>>28463145>all the other models have it on the right sideAll the other models have final drive on the left, not right. I'm an idiot.
>>28463139The sportster has the primary, or the belt side on the other side.
There's some reason for it but I forgot.
The big engine bikes have the belt on the left.
It doesn't matter now because the nusportster is a water cooled thing from SE Asia.
The touring bikes are the hardbagged bikes.
The other bikes are the "small" bikes with the same engines, but sometimes a lower displacement by a few inches.
The bike everyone lifts and modifies for performance outside of the touring bikes is the Low Rider, usually.
The stunt bikes are usually modified Low Riders, or Sportster 883's.
Sportster 883's are actually geared slightly better than 1200's for big bore kits.
>>28463154>The stunt bikes are usually modified Low RidersYou will see a lot of Super Glides and Street Bobs too. They're practically the same to begin with and almost indistinguishable after you mod it for stunting.
>>28463158Sports Glides, they all kinda work you can do it to the Heritage too.
The best wheelie bike I've seen that don't have modified bags are the Low Riders though, less fairings and better steering rake.
I'd like to stunt out a Streetglide, or Ultra with the top case removed, the batwing fairing looks so good but not the new fairing.
All of the touring bikes are car priced bikes though, so I don't think about it too much
>>28462957Why are you gay?
>>28462961It's pretty dope, ngl.
>>28463145>>28463150I see. What does that effect.
>>28463154>the nusportster is a water cooled thing from SE Asia.bleh
>Sportster 883's are actually geared slightly better than 1200's for big bore kits.Is this the only reason the 883 is still relevant? Any time I see it mentioned online, people are just shitting on it.
>>28463162Idk I've just been told by HD techs that they have tighter gears and are more fun to throw performance mods at.
>>28463060Is an ADV bike just a sport tourer that have got the scrambler treatment?

i bought the 701 a few weeks back, finally did the first longer ride with it today, doing all the old roads i did years ago, before i sold my old bike.
i gotta say the 701 is GREAT, im so happy that i didnt buy a 959 or V2 panigale like i almost did.
its ridiculously easy to ride fast in the corners, suspension etc. gives tons of confidence.
had the rear tire down to the edge within a few mins of riding, and even when you slip a little due to those asphalt snakes it doesnt freak you out a bit. i had some serious fishtailing going on when accelerating out of a corner with a lot of them, but feels like nothing to worry about.
all in all just GREAT, i should have swallowed the supermoto pill a decade ago.
anyways, im already planning on buying a second bike as well, just gotta get rid of my second car first to make some space.

Has anybody noticed if humid affects how long the lube lasts on their chains?
It's been uncharacteristically humid lately and my chains are getting dry after like two rides. My buddy noticed the same thing on his bike.
The chains on our bikes have a good amount of miles on them but they are still in good shape.
im getting sick and fucking tired of this retard recycling someone elses gixxer picks and acting like its his bike(s)
fuck off back to r*ddit you drone
>>28464574yes, but which one?
>>28462902I'd do what I did and use a (one-trip grade ONLY no fucking scrap!) shipping container then fit a cheap dehumidifier. It solves collector bike and partsstorage sweetly as you can park (non-baggers) one deep down the sides and ride in and out thanks to doors on both ends (never omit that).
A container as a controlled inside room in a factory or hangar is quite common in industry. My personal outdoor bike storage box has nil flammables and I can inert the whole can with one CO2 high pressure extinguisher of several from industrial auctions.
If you don't own the warehouse/shop but a container might serve better (they're far more dust-free than most rooms not to mention humidity and condensation). Accessories to move them are quite simple. A few hunks of large OD pipe make dandy rollers.
>>28464568It's a husqvarna 501, I've made some changes to make it a little more roadable. Rade/garage is the place that makes the tower
>>28464578Thanks man
>>28464596>501how are the service intervals on that one?
>>28462983Because failure to recognize motorcycles are toys and that the cruiser world is also about folk art.
The first looked like someone waved a magic UJM wand over then and had gearbox issures. Later ones had some interesting styling but those looks failed to move enough product now the early 'oughts Harley famine.
The public voted Polaris off the island then of course liked semi-traditional Indian whose Scout is tidily done and performant.
>>28464599Not great, not terrible. I thought it would be a bit more opressive honestly, but I ride the piss out of it and the oil changes are so quick it's hardly a bother. I did get the recluse clutch cover which expands the oil capacity noticably and increases the interval, but I still change it every 15 hours or so out of habbit. It's nice to have the option to take it past that if I wanted to, though, and I have for some multi day stuff. The rebuilds are what most people worry about, but unless you're literally racing these bikes then the intervals on those can easily be doubled or more

So i was drinking in the shop and wondering what I could do with some random parts.
Like....can I use 2 swingarms for rear suspension on a quad (?)
Then I just started thinking....what if I took 2 identical bikes, added a cradle in-between them with a seat and married/mirrored the controls to both bikes and basically built a quad with dual swingarms outback and each front wheel on their own forks and 2 functioning engines/gear boxes.
Maybe even make the center cradle a "clamp on" like a side car so the bikes aren't actually destroyed and could be separated when the project is shit or even split off to use during the day at glamis and then bolted together to ride over to comp hill at night and just hang out and drink....

Fecesbook Marketplace took over from Craigslist but I still check it and even printed trader papers now and then. See also Fecesbook Dyna and other HD and parts for sale groups.
Mags sell for much more than spokes and won't get cheaper so if you get a Dyna with mags selling them is currently easy, Ebay being highest priced.
