Imagine living thousands of years ago. You want to do astrology, tropical astrology, but when you look up at the sky, day or night, you cannot see the spans of the zodiac. They're invisible, and you have no computers.
What you'd do is wait until nighttime so you can see the stars, then do all your work at night so you can calculate the positions of the zodiac based on what you see. Now with computers we no longer need this.

Tropical will be accurate as long as there is a Sun and an Earth with axial tilt. Those variables create the meaning of the zodiac just as North, South, East, and West all have their own energetic traits according to their relation to the planet we share our life with.
