It's really unprecedented how fast their reputation has nosedived. As recent as 5-10 years ago they were just the "quirky and funny-sounding but harmless hard-working immigrant" to pretty much everyone. Sure the call center/scammer stereotype was already there but there was always kind of the implicit distinction that it was only Indians in India doing that. Now even reddit-tier normies are basically open about hating them. I guess it's just a combination of real life exposure hitting critical levels + Indians getting access to the internet en masse.
