What caused the flip exactly?
Why was Trump, <1 year ago, fully willing to commit to the release of the files when he obviously already knew his own depth of involvement that would be revealed in them? Did he wrongly assume he could get the files chopped and redacted in such a way that would sufficiently insulate him from danger, then learn this wasn't feasible, or did he simply use it as campaign fodder he thought people would forget about?
