Before anybody says cheap/shitty knock-offs, their 5th-gen is already looking solid(but most likely still substantially behind), and they are also publicly testing very reasonable 6th-gens as well. In terms of drones, they've been showing some very interesting designs as well(google jet/hypersonic Chinese UAVs).

They're catching up rapidly.
