I grew up in the 90s-00s. Back much of daily tech (tvs, vcrs/dvd players, kitchen appliances etc) was from Japanese brands. These days it's all gone. Japan was smart enough to innovate (and/or copy, see pic attached) at some point but nowadays they've been outcompeted because they thought the world owed it its success.
