well the point was that -any- set is basically "worthless" as a "pile of bricks" since, after some point, you should already have a collection of bricks, and can build whatever you want

the only reason to purchase a new thing, becomes the few exclusive minifigs and/or few new pieces or colors of pieces.

this might not be the most-appropriate set pic to use (since it IS a cool ship), but remember this huge set? and everyone freaked out about putting Rex in it? Lego "forcing" people to buy it ($$expensive!!!) to get the cool character? a year later, and Lego put Rex in that tiny set? and people freaked out -again- because they felt they wasted money on the larger set? Lego learned a lesson about how to sell expensive sets, simply put good characters in them.... exclusively
