No it was better, everything was much slower but I would trade speed in an instant for niche online spaces gatekept with authenticity. Any random Angelfire and Geocities site has way more soul than any modern internet website and what made it better is that those sites were made by actual humans putting time and effort into it, back in the days when everyone could run their own messageboard and you would come across genuine human interest.
