i don't think so but yeah i could be wrong. it's a chain terminator. it's similar structurally to the nucleoside guanosine, (as in, ATCG guanosine). the virus tries to use this to make DNA, but it's a dead end on the chain and it can't add more bases on it. so replication stops.
the other cells in your body have both a lower affinity for this compared to the real nucleoside, and also can easily remove it.
so it's not really that complex with how it works.
