I agree. The more RPGs I play, and especially the more I step outside of the generally well-loved classics, the more I appreciate about Chrono Trigger.
So many RPGs are good overall but are weighed down by a few frustrating aspects. Chrono Trigger is a fairly simple game but by comparison it feels incredibly smooth and pleasant to play because it lacks those flaws.

I think my biggest complaint is that you have to use a party of three.
The characters are all fun so I want to use everyone, but I have a hard time putting down my favorites to sub in someone else. I don't think I've ever played through it without using Chrono and Ayla.
If I had my own time machine and could change one thing about it, I'd give it something like the system in FF10 where you can sub in any member of your team at any time. Combining that with the Dual Tech/Triple Tech system would be so much fun.
That and I'd add in a fun non-canon harem ending. But I'd add that into literally any game I play, so it kinda goes without saying.
