I keep seeing people expecting SteamOS to officially come to desktops, but AFAIK there are no plans for that.
And there's also no particular reason for it.
If you want the same experience, just install an Arch Linux distro which is what SteamOS moved to after Debian.
SteamOS has no special magic that people seem to imagine it does.
It's mostly just Valve's Arch Linux configuration.
