So back in the late 80's my brother and his writing partner get tapped by Fox to write a pilot for a mid season replacement based on some Tracy Ullman animated shorts. They are given a verbal promise of a cut of the merch. Bart Simpson t shirt sales explode (both legit but mostly bootleg). He and Mike decide "well, we'll just wait until the show is cancelled and then sue."

They're still waiting.

When I saw him last year I asked how that was going. At dinner at the restaurant he pulls his settlement from Fox out of his FUCKING pocket. One of the lines "merchandise $0.00" (He still works for them, Mike retired.)
I guess that's why he was on the picket lines with the writers despite technically being management.
