Do you think the only reason anyone would do "good" is because it's their responsibility? That the only reason anyone could ever go out of their way to do what's right is because they "have" to?
That's not who Sonic is. Sonic lives life by his own rules, he does what he wants to do, and NO ONE can tell him otherwise. And yet, in all of his freedom... What does he do?
He helps people. He saves people. He frees people. He saves the whole world from all sorts of threats, whether it be dictators or eldritch horrors. Sonic does all of that, because he. Just. Felt like it.
He wanted to, and that was that. He does what he does because he just wants to do it, of is own free will, his own personal choice. His own decision. He could do anything with his time, it is NOT his problem, and yet he does it anyway. Because that's who Sonic the Hedgehog IS.
