Actually, thinking about it a little, I imagine that a hypothetical .44 Magnum or .45 Winmag necked down to .223 caliber could maybe actually match, or at least come close, to a .223 rifle but from like a 6" or 8" barreled handgun, but I've never seen this done, so I couldn't ever say that definitely.

Would probably be unreasonably loud.
