It leans a lot more towards being a shooter than being an RPG (albeit a splash of RPG elements exists) but at the same time, its not your typical run-n-gun kind of affair. Its strong point in general, is the situations the player finds themselves in and what they make of it. The fact that its not holding your hand is also a big appeal, it just gives you enough context to get you started and the rest is up to you. I can see how it can turn people off with its rough edges but those who stick around get a truly unique experience that no other game can come close to, except maybe the Metro series but thats still a tad different and also cheating since its been made by former Stalker developers. If you are to jump back into it, go in blind and without any distractions to really immerse yourself into the game, dont be afraid of making mistakes and just follow your gut and finally, remap the medkit, bandage and quicksave keys.
