Even if the story were equally as shit as the sequels, it's still a million times more interesting to look at than the sequels. The sequels had boring as fuck designs because they just reused the same designs as the OT and the aliens were all variations of each other. Almost samefags.
It's the designs that also kept the prequels so much more interesting.

NEVERFUCKINGMIND the setting. The prequels are their own thing too, with Republic being a toothless bureaucracy and all new different worlds to explore. The sequels were again a retread of the OT, so it's same backward snow (derp salt),forest/sand planets with the downtrodden rebels struggling to fight against the evil empire.
Whereas Dark Empire has the New Republic chasing down the last remnants of the Empire to shitholes that not even the Rebels used. Completely new and exciting to explore, like the OT and prequels.
