Can nobody do math anymore? If you said "questionable things online" when you were 19 and your a "45-year-old neuroscientist" (I mean obviously you're not, this is all hypothetical right?) then the posts you made were TWENTY SIX FUCKING YEARS AGO! For the innumerate reading this, that was back in 1999.
Did you actually sign your real name on usenet posts? Nobody did that, especially if they were saying anything "questionable". The internet was truly anonymous back then, there was none of this bullshit "sign in with your Google or Facebook" account stuff. Facebook didn't even exist, Google was just an emerging search engine competing with others like Webcrawler, hell MySpace hadn't even been invented, the closest thing to it was those free geocities webpages and you could sign up for those with no real world identity verification. The internet of 1999 was so different it is almost inconceivable to people today. Boards like 4chan are literally the only thing close to the way the entire internet used to be.
Anyway, Nobel Prize winners have already been cancelled for wrongthink, the most notable example is James Watson who discovered DNA. (pic related) The difference is he said things that went against the modern narrative publicly, and after he had been awarded the Nobel prize.
So yeah, I get what you're trying to do here OP. You're showing a hypothetical situation where modern cancel culture impedes human progress by denying reality and suppressing truth. But you really don't need hypotheticals for that, and it's pretty obvious that the people in charge (who must not be named) are doing everything they can to turn the world into a nightmare dystopia.
