I think that's the only way it works. I'm startinhg to seriously consider that everything you may see externally is like the movie your watching on a cosmic silver-screen. People don't like it (or do), and try to destroy or become part of the screen. Of course. we all know that interacting with the screen doesn't change the movie being projected. One would have to alter the projector to actually change the movie. To put it very simply.
That's ignoring the idea that you could also interact with the movie as it was being filmed at some point in the "past", which of course doesn't exist as "separate" from the present, since all time and space is simply a 4d hyperObject that very rarely changes in any meaningful way.

Start on the first metaphor first and see how that one suits you before you think more deeply about the rest of it
