based. I can't think of a game with better encounter design or encounter variety, plus the replayability is great, lots of mechanical depth too unlike most TPS
most action games of any kind just throw enemies into a bowl or box-shaped room and sprinkle some enemies in, the environment makes no difference outside of visual flair but RE4 switches things up constantly; the lift, the maze, the water hall, the novistador hive, the cargo elevator with the falling giant barrels in the castle, the trebuchet section and more. it's Good Game Design: The Game outside of the fact that you can run past most encounters
