My most recent theory/cope is this: we all know these movies will be split into a season later.
WHAT IF...
The 3rd movie ends into either a cliffhanger (Tanjiro's death, Muzanjiro ENTERS) or a very open ending (Tanjiro wakes up after rejecting Muzan) and then UFO announces that the end of the serie is "THE LAST EPISODE" that will air with the TV season, kinda like the Rengoku filler we got for Season 2?
A single episode (probably a 45min special) is quite different from an entirely new season, but it would still make the 3rd movie much more feasible since they would have SO MUCH SHIT to cram if the movie is also supposed to cover the epilogue.....
