I've only played the Hollow ones (Fragment and Realization), but they are alright if you want:
>swords (big, small, curved, nippon steel folded over 1000 times ,etc.)
>grinding on top of grinding, numbers go up and all that
>pressing all of the buff buttons in your hotbars before a boss fight
>dating anime girls (from the original chinese cartoon, some new ones, some randomly-generated chicks)
in a single package.
Combat-wise, Hollow is a bit closer to a MMO (sort of) than Realization is a bit closer to an action game, but you will be spamming buffs and attack skills in both of them.
All the bad things about the anime don't mean much in the games because the games are set in an alternative timeline (until Fatal Bullet, at least). And it's not like it matters, you will spend 90% of the time killing MMO mobs and cheating on your wife.
Can't say much about the rest of the games, people say Lost Song is gay, Fatal Bullet is good if you prefer guns over swords, and apparently Alice is not even a JRPG.
Alternatively, get the .Hack Collection.
