Trains are not viable for megabases. The higher throughput you go, the worse trains get. Cargo trains are basically made obsolete by stack inserters and green belts. Their only reason to exist in megabases is light support roles like delivering Calcite to mines.

I'm belting almost 50 stacked belts of stone to my purple science build, if I'd do that with trains I'd need like 20-30 trains unloading simultaneously at any given time with the next train waiting right behind as you can only go a handful of seconds without an unloading train before the belt empties. That would need a train station as big as the build itself, not to mention all the hundreds of interters and two landes in each direction. And that's just for stone, which is a "small" part compared to all the molten iron this shit gobbles up. I've build it between two iron mines, piping one directly while the other one is too far away and needs pumps. Fluid trains are also hardcapped at 9000 fluid/s for loading/unloading with legendary pumps. And lets not forget the 16 stacked belts of plastic either.
