i live in Vancouver, it's a temperate rainforest and terracotta shouild be good with all that rain, but
1. it does not fit aesthetically in Canada, we don't have any Mediterranean history and we don't build in that style. there are some houses like that with the predicatable palms flanking the house, but they look foreign and out of place
2. we have a lot of huge trees, big tall trees and in spring windstorms some fall over and many more lose branches.

two reasons we don't use that here
mostly asphalt shingles or cedar shakes
people don't really want to put a metal roof on a 100-year-old house
