I don't know if it's still a thing (and probably still is) but your memory will typically be whatever was cheapest at the time of assembly.
I remember when the overclocking potential of certain cards would depend on the VRAM's manufacturer, where you were lucky to get Samsung.
In my experience though, overclocking is the equivalent of driving a hot rod to go grocery shopping, especially when modern cars are already pretty high performance as it is.
And for what? Maybe a few more FPS in certain scenarios? All while compromising system stability and/or the lifespan of a rather expensive product?
