I love the movies too. Most of it I don't mind as things needed to be changed to bring it to live in the theater and make it work on the cinematic way such as needing comic relief, getting rid of songs, screen wasting side content like Tom Bombadil. The books still exist and the movies made them more popular than ever. I'd say the only unforgivable change was the ghost army. They should have never been able to affect anything real and certainly not won the battle. That was definitely capeshitty. Fellowship is still peak LOTR and so comfy.
