Because the green movement grew out of anti nuclear hippies. All their support structure is build around dirty hippies hating nuclear power. Now when the new generation of greentards grew up they hated CO2 with a similar passion. This has lead to a civil war within all the green movements of the world.

Nuclear power is the lowest source of energy per unit of CO2, and it just keeps getting better the longer plans can run.
