What's more egregious is how we never get to learn what Gaara and his siblings' family name is. It's especially jarring in the Chunin Exams, where the announcers constantly use the full names for most contestants, but not for characters like Kankuro or Tenten.
Like, why do all of Orochimaru's henchmen (even the ones from Kabuto's team) get family names but not Gaara?
