From a perspective of finding a new field I am interested in, which has opened new doors, but I haven't really gotten more offers. In hindsight, it would have been better to secure a good development job and grind there until you can leave for something better.

It was one of the reasons I did it, I was waiting for my adhd meds, which, thanks to the NHS, took 5 years and wanted to buy some more time before needing to go to work.
I would say only do it if it's in something you are very passionate about. I did it on 3D printing and liked it. Depending on how it goes might go to another uni and continue my research in a PhD, but the chances of that are slim.

The amount of money to motivate me is way too high to make me care about working. Earning 30k or 80k is the same in my eyes. I'll only start getting motivated when the salary gets closer to 200k, but that's near impossible to do here in the UK or desu anywhere.
