Reminder that it is entirely your fault and your fault alone that you are unemployed.

if they're choosing pajeets over you, then you really had no actual value to the tech industry.
>>105844624 (OP)>Reminder that it is entirely your fault and your fault alone that you are unemployed.Yes goy, this has nothing to do with h1b and ai replacing everyone. It is only their own fault goyim,

>>105844680But we aren't talking about North Korea, we're talking about the shithole that is America.
>>105844692There is no "American people", just employees of a corporation disguised as a country, and you are getting replaced by your superiors.
>>105844708You are right, how can natives of a country demand a living wage in the career they have been pursuing for years or have enjoyed all their lives?. Dumb goys.
They should live in a cage and โworkโ 24/7 for $15 an hour as top pajeets using AI tools all the way to the top.

>>105844942Good morning sir!
I'm thinking of going back to school to get a degree but it all feels so pointless. It's a middling school. The curriculum looks way weaker in comparision to the CMU courses I completed.
>>105845068Well if you got that paid for then might as well do the work to finish it. If you are paying out of pocket then its a hard sell to go to college for something that does not pay off.
Why the hell did you leave CMU? They and any other Ivy / Top private school should have a robotics team that you could get valuable experience from to stand out, not to mention the other clubs they have.
>>105845068Don't bother, learn a trade.

>>105845280Sucks to suck honestly. I am surprised you made it into CMU that is one of the few top schools for CS that is not an ivy. It'd be like if you dropped out of MIT for engineering
>>105845330Yeah. The computer systems and OS classes were incredible. I actually got a software dev job afterwards doing embedded but got laid off a year ago and now I'm back to zero.
You're all better off killing yourselves to leave space for us brahmin chads who are taking all your jobs and women hahahaa.
I get too depressed thinking about my career. How it might be best for me to abandon CS right now. How if I try another career it will need years of work and education again and even then I might not get any jobs again. My day is only good when I'm wasting time and horrible when I try to take a step further in life. Just needed to rant.

The secret to deadend wagieshit is quietly doing the absolute bare minimum
i worked for a small tech business as (essentially, a) CEO's assistant. i was the webmaster, technical writer, marketer, etc. etc. among other things.
the company is sunsetting and i was laid off because she just uses AI now.
i did this... i coasted... for nearly 10 years, and as a result i have no real specialization.
i am sort of fucked, or would be, but i do have a good reference and i can tailor my resume in any direction.
just wanted to share, but i'd also like to hear any ideas or advice.
>>105839283From a perspective of finding a new field I am interested in, which has opened new doors, but I haven't really gotten more offers. In hindsight, it would have been better to secure a good development job and grind there until you can leave for something better.
>Drugs also help.It was one of the reasons I did it, I was waiting for my adhd meds, which, thanks to the NHS, took 5 years and wanted to buy some more time before needing to go to work.
I would say only do it if it's in something you are very passionate about. I did it on 3D printing and liked it. Depending on how it goes might go to another uni and continue my research in a PhD, but the chances of that are slim.
>>105839567The amount of money to motivate me is way too high to make me care about working. Earning 30k or 80k is the same in my eyes. I'll only start getting motivated when the salary gets closer to 200k, but that's near impossible to do here in the UK or desu anywhere.
>>105847292It's pretty easy to game this. First, you were """loyal""" (most people your age are forced to move every year or teo even if they don't want to). Second, you "responded directly to the ceo" and "help the company grow" through whatever stages you experienced. You were't an exec assistant, you were (depending on the stage you joined) a "founding engineer" or "chief of staff", etc.
Nobody really cares about specialization inasmuch as hr roasties patternmatch keywords so just put in the b8 words and you're in.
Startups always look for generalists if they know what they're doing though, so that's another option.
>>105847603Never do a PhD. It is a life-ending trap.
>Running out of money from my last job, need to get a part time job so I can get more time to search for a real job

>call around, ask what happened to my applications
>"oh sorry we aren't hiring, but there's a new starbucks opening up soon, try applying to that one!"
>after a week of emailing and getting thrown around managers I finally manage to get in contact with the manager of the new starbucks
>"Yeah sorry we've already filled out all the roles, we got transfers from other stores"

It's fucking absurd

Why would someone interested in CS ever have any interest in IT bullshit
>>105849086>What are you going to do now anonI don't know. Maybe I'll start applying to other shit jobs like chick fila, I really wanted starbucks because I like coffee, I already make a load of coffee myself, and they pay well.
My last resort is asking my dad to try and get me a part time job at his company, but not only would that be absurdly humiliating but I would have to drive 40 minutes every day to the jobsite and I would probably get paid $15 an hour to do repetitive factory work.
Good morning, friendly reminder that your unemployment is your fault based on the choices you have made in your pathetic life and your fault alone.

I have no certs, and I don't know jack shit about coding and I don't really want to. Is my experience worth anything? Should I study for IT certs or is an associate's degree worth 2 years of my life?
I feel like I'm qualified to at least do a similar gig to my last one but nobody wants to hire without certs or degrees. I got my last job through a friend.
I've been unemployed almost 2 years. 1 year of applications and a year of sloth.
>>105850178Oh and I should say my main advantage is that I'm not a reclusive autist, i actually enjoy talking with my end users and helping them find practical solutions. I'm pretty good about responding to tickets and building a rapport with both my users, admin, and at least a handful of senior colleagues.
Where i get into shit is if I'm unsupervised for too long i might let low priority long term projects pile up.
>>105849302Damn, that sounds bad. I hope you find work soon. Keep looking and applying and I'm sure you'll find something. Good luck!
>>105847292>CEO>sheYou brought that on yourself
I'm a reclusive autist who struggles to talk to people and is possibly the main reason why I can't get a job despite doing well on technical stuff. Is it over? Some CS fags went into this field mainly because they won't have to talk to people they don't know that much.
>>105850430One of my friends is in charge of screening the greenhorns and he consistently takes ok programmers that can speak properly and answer phone calls and emails instead of the gpa4.0 autists that would be miserable to work with

Should I keep applying to a company that keeps rejecting me?
For context AWS is the only big tech company physically near me (actually it's within walking distance) with more than a single-digit number of openings. I've been applying to them for two years, got interviewed for three positions, did not get any of them. Is there a point where there are negative repercussions like "ay yo why does this retard keep applying lmao" and blacklist me or something, or am I free to keep applying (though seemingly to no avail)?
>>105856499Thats about right. If its longer than 2 weeks then its not going to happen. Sometimes they lie and say there will be another interview.

They have no idea.
Not filling out the form though, I have no idea why I applied in the first place, I have 0 YoE and it's asking for 3, and I don't meet the "detailed knowledge of [typical manufacturing shit] systems" requirements.

I'm being offered an internal transfer. they offer the same pay (I asked for a raise, they said no) + 1 yearly bonus, equivalent to 2 monthly salaries (so a total yearly pay 1/6 higher than my curren salary), based on team performance (ie, it might or might not be paid...)
my current position is relatively comfy except for the political crap my boss has to endure (and therefore the team as a whole). I've been told that the positon I was offered is not this comfy and politics might be the same or worse.
am I being too greedy if I reject the offer and tell them to raise the pay offer?

You don't developer "bigger" problems.
You become more of a pussy because you feel like you have more to lose. You feel like your problems are bigger. But at the end of the day you have a place to eat and sleep. You're body is safe. No one is coming after you got debt you took to buy medicine. You have more responsibility and you feel more pressure, but unless it's because you are a sociopath that put yourself in a position where you drastically affect other people's lives for the worse, theres no comparison between the problems a poorer person has, and the "problems" a wealthier person has. They only feel bigger because you have more to lose.

Microsoft boomer says the labor shortage is real and that they really do try to find US workers before getting someone on an H1B visa, which is a difficult process, so they'd never go that route if an American existed that could do the job.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLBPzfvQXlY
>>105865674It's simple: why pay an American something like 80k when they can pay a 3rd worlder half of that and they will still consider it a nice pay check?
They have the trouble of filtering out the thousands of shitty applications, but many good ones are there and will be hired.
If you live in the 1st world and work with IT, you're fucked. You either gotta get lucky or be way ahead of the curve. Or pray for a new pandemic.
>>105865773I'd work for 10k damn, I just want some experience
>>105857177US salaries are rather high and inflated due to the coof hiring spree + money printing. Less hands are needed now that seniors can quickly attend to junior tasks using AI tooling. Combine that with overhiring from before in the US and this is the result. The bootcampers and switchers are utterly screwed unless they know someone.
It's quite a bit better in Europe since the overhiring that took place was limited. The language barrier also helps, it limits the jobs that migrants can get.
>>105855662All of those jobs as mechanic can be rather dangerous as well. Certain types of coating and chemicals can shave years off your life easily.
>>105851023I've tested the waters a bit with a masters degree and 4yoe in the Netherlands (as native). It seems the companies that are most interested in me are shitty consultancies that expect you to drive to clients (non working hours) 2-3 times a week wherever they may be in the country. The pay is also shit for that kind of work, it usually caps at like 6-7k euro gross / month. They bill the client 140-160 euro per hour for you as well so the client expects great results.... while you're there making 40/hr at best. I still get around 5-8 recruiters per week messaging me for mostly awful consultancy roles. The in house positions I've got messages for are almost all proper dumpster fires.
> how can I get better with people? Talk to them, engage with them and whenever you give an opinion in a different direction make sure that you can place it in a way that it aligns with their beliefs. This way you can engage with someone and you can make someone enthusiastic about your skills. Of course, you usually don't display any ''real'' skill doing this, but it's super important to do this to please people.

>>105846495''Investors'' are really stupid usually. I'm convinced it are mostly retirement companies buying up whatever stupid company they see and thinking it'll go up based on ... no real metrics.
>>105865996The compensation shortage goes hand in hand with inflation on cost of living + house prices (usually excluded in inflation metrics). The 50+ tend to go for easy do nothing jobs and gladly sacrifice half their income for it since they've got a tiny or no mortgage remaining and that changes the amount of money you need drastically. The 30 year mortgage meme + gambling market that developed around it has done an utterly insane amount of damage to western countries. It still continues on doing damage since nothing has really changed since 08 except not giving mortgages to people who could realistically never pay it back
>>105865773>It's simple: why pay an American something like 80k when they can pay a 3rd worlder half of that and they will still consider it a nice pay check? The answer is also simple: Because the American will produce code that actually works, while the third worlder will take three times as long to produce bug-ridden shit that needs to be fixed by an American anyway.

hold on bros let me get my rich jewish uncle to get our angel round of a casual 800 thousand dollars. my startup idea is AI powered, crowdsourced gangstalking.
Stats from the UK: Overall digital sector employment is down
>>105870773its crazy how most of the startups are utterly worthless. all VC companies need to be shut down immediately.
>>105870873A more detailed breakdown of job losses
I'm an elec engineer applying for entry level tech jobs that I'm qualified for
should I just stick to EE
>>105870885The most shocking: a collapse of 40% for people aged 16-24, which would be the junior roles. There is also a decline in ages 25-54, only the ages 55+ have gained jobs

>>105870873why is this happening? immigration isn't a new thing and AI impact in productivity has been minimal at best
>>105870860>zoomers really be thinking a dumbass with an idea, a wordpress, and an ec2 micro instance is a "startup".Doing that is already a big feat, but I'm sure whinning on /utwg/ in your mom's basement is more productive.
>>105870904studied EE in college and SWE is much easier imo. EE is a nightmare
>>105870918o.u.t.s.o.u.r.c.i.n.g
>>105870938that isn't new either
>>105870931I do EE right now and its fine but I wanted to try tech once in my life
I figure if I get fired in tech I have my EE experience to fall back on
>>105870945The scale is new
>>105870920yeah thats called a "project" not a startup
only hustler university tiktokers have the arrogance and naivety to call that shit a startup lol
guess what dude? everyone has shit ass projects liek that and they dont call them startups
you jest but youre going to die in your parents basement hoping soneone will hire you.
>>105871053>A startup or start-up is a company or project undertaken by an entrepreneur to seek, develop, and validate a scalable business model. The two are non mutually exclusive
>>105871071>Don't call it unemployment. Call it being an Entrepeneurial Analyst. Biggest mistake I see from young people today is the lack of confidence to call themselves entrepeneurs. >>105870918>>105870944It's AI, and this is only the beginning

>>105871202True AI (Actual Indians) can

>>105870944The death of entry level tech.
Where will senior level tech come from in 20 years? Hey shut up.
>>105871106>T. FastAndFuriousBusiness (Based, Redpilled, Courses from $500)FIFY
>>105871202That comes later, for now it just has to improve productivity enough that junior level is worthless.
You know how your course taught you how to sell the service to a customer? You know how it said to say something like "You'll save X employee hours per year using our software which translates to either hours that can be used elsewhere or $Y saved"? Yeah it turns out they went with saving $Y.
Another day of hopeless applications. I'm starting to think I'm on some kind of hiring blacklist at this point due to how fast I'm getting rejected from entry level stuff without them even reaching out to me to at least talk about it at first. I also have some experience, education, and certs on my resume but apparently that's not helping. What am I even supposed to do at this point? I'm considering just bullshitting to fill in the gap and saying that I'm currently working at this family startup.
>>105872766>me me menigga the market sucks for everyone. if things don't change by next year it genuinely might be over for software development as a career
>>105872766Nah, it's not you. The system is just gamed. You are doing nothing wrong.
>last jeet tester left the team because he was fucking useless and had some "disagreement" with management about something
>likely just got fired for being fucking useless
>new jeet PERFORMANCE tester joins the team
>maybe this one will be better
>hour long calls multiple times a week where this jeet wants me to explain to him how to do his job
How the fuck do these useless fucks get employed in the first place?
Get a job you fuckin bums, it's not hard to build a good portfolio these days especially with AI. What the fuck is your excuse for being unemployed?
>>105872766Post your resume
>>105873069After applying for hundreds and hundreds of jobs and never getting a callback, then getting past a final-round interview and going to the office to sign my employment contract only for them to say they changed their mind after the hour drive and one hour office tour, I stopped applying. Now I have a 2 year post-graduation gap so it's over for ever getting in software anyway.
>>105873069>it's not hard to build a good portfolio these days especially with AIThat's part of the problem. Applicants spamming thousands of jobs with AI resumes, HR using dumb AI tools to instantly reject people. It's a huge cycle of AI sloppa achieving nothing good.
>>105873159my projects are so trash that no way an AI could've come up with it
>>105873173I'm sure HR stacey would think your 4chan thread scraper or hentai organization tool is cool, if I was on an interview pannel I would think its cool.
I do a lot of slightly admin (configuration of network rules and stuff and also Google admin) plus help desk. Like I can deploy network equipment with vlans and all that(doing that right now at a new site).
I'm getting fucked pay wise being 1099 at 62k which obviously gets fucked on by taxes at a huge rate. (It's the equivalent of like 50k w2)
Should I take a w2 job that pays 70k with 3 days remote but is "support specialist 1"? They have great benefits as opposed to my zero benefits now. Career wise it's a downgrade but I'm getting no money here and there is ZERO upward mobility. Literally just the it director and me here
>>105873192I unironically did and put a 4chan/reddit AI bot on my resume and it got some attention.
>>105862583You need better bait
>>105873220Yeah I mean to be honest if people can swallow the subject matter its interesting. I have wrote plenty of stuff like that myself but am too pussy to put it on my CV but I'm employed so I don't need to but my company puts tech guys on the interview panels I could volunteer for it but I detest that shit but I'd find it cool.
To be honest if you can have a genuine good conversation with an interviewer where you connect on something I think that's a good sigh.
Disclaimer: This might be the worst possible interview advice ever given.
>>105862583How the fuck is AD hard? Just read whatever it says and google whatever you don't know.
Got an interview for a new job via referral, unfortunately failed
>Had great interview with manager, lots of laughter and smiles, all positive remarks
>Had extra interview with a couple of Indians who could barely speak English, and were completely stand offish the entire time even though I aced the coding portion.
>Two random Indian code monkeys are able to override the overwhelming positive feedback from the person I'd actually be working under.
Every day my racism towards Indians grows exponentially.
